DISTILLING THE DEMONS

Mil Demonios relives that clandestine recipe, rescued from the memoirs of mythical tales of those lustful nights in Cartagena de Indias, the Colony where the demons or every participant would be given license to then be exorcised with the light of day.

The wolf is maintained just as in those days and continues to be the distinguishing element among those secret communities that want to get rid of their demons without resentment, helped by the control given by a winged demon and with great nocturnal astuteness.

THE SECRET EFFECT OF MIL DEMONIOS

Espeleta tells in his writings that this liquid created an atmosphere of empathy among guests of secret juergas, encouraged by the elite of Cartagena and Santa Marta. This empathy was accompanied by a particular sensation of euphoria and control that allowed the juerga (binge) to go on with a balance of tolerance and tranquility amongst the Viceroys and the Indian, Mulatto and Creole ladies, all dress-up in unique disguises to not reveal their sinful identity.

ESPELETA

They say that he was an old friar brought form the Monastery of San Millán de Yuso in Castilla to Cartagena de Indias to evangelize the tribes. He always enjoyed the night but he was never allowed to, hence he would cover up his appearance to be able to live the night. So he asked for an Owl’s head to always be awake and look in all directions. They also say that this was his favorite disguise, to hide his identity when he was de juerga (binge spree).

According to some texts, his voice is soft and we all feel it, it beckons to what we know and want. It teaches to get along with enemies, masters and servants at night. All can call him and, as we drink, he shows us the paths of the night without remorse.

SUGAR CANE AND THE NEW WORLD

The story of Christopher Columbus of Genoa is well known, pursuing new trade routes for the Spanish Crown, convinced he could get to places faster given that, for him, the earth was round.

Fortunately for him and the Crown, on October 12, 1492, 2 months and 9 days after departing from Palos de La Frontera, Colombus or Colón in Spanish, discovers America or The New World, a term coined by Amerigo Vespucci who set out to explore and document the new-found lands.
